Simplifying is the prerequisite of all mystical experience.

A mystic is a being who is able to simplify awareness to see things in their most quintessential essence. Evelyn Underhill defines mysticism as “the art of being in union with Reality. The mystic is a person who has attained that union. We know a thing only by uniting with it; by assimilating it; by an interpenetration of it and ourselves. And to be one with reality requires being able to perceive through the innocent eyes of simplicity!”

Have you ever been thrust into an expanded state of a unified perception of reality through love, beauty, grief or pain?”

What did you notice was different about that perception of reality than how you normally perceive and hold it?

 In this Soul Salon, we are going to be looking together at what it is to enter into mystical states of consciousness through the Gateway of Simplicity.

What distinguishes ordinary, entrained perception and that of great artists, poets and mystics is innocence, humility and simplicity.Simplicity has an innocence of eye and an ear freed from all the meanings the mind has disguised it with.

Rather than perceiving simply, reality as it actually is, the doors of ordinary perception are hung with cobwebs of thought, prejudices, preferences. Mystic vision can mediate an actuality beyond the reach of the senses, to a pure, direct apprehension of truth and Reality. Why gather at this time?

Now, more than ever, we are remembering the importance of our heart to heart connections with each other and with the Earth! With the energy of change being brought so viscerally into our awareness, as we move into the Unknown, we feel naturally impulsed to reassess where our roots are, what connections are serving our remaining centered in Love, no matter what storm is taking place. The Sanctuary of the Open Heart is serving to strengthen our rootedness in Love together! In this technological time of texting and tweeting (which serve their purpose) I feel a deep desire to connect heart to heart, voice to voice… to see how we can serve each other in staying centered in Love. To begin this process of staying more connected in the web of Oneness, I want to start by offering…

We will start by being led in a meditation to open us to sharing from the deeper parts of Self. Then I will offer soul inquiries for you to discover and weave your thread into our Web of Oneness. We will then open to sharing what you brought to share, Witnessing what you have moved toward or set down on the soul journey, asking pressing soul questions.. whatever we want to dream up as valuable for our time together on a zoom call! Finally we will work with a practice that can help you stabilize.. with a tool for turbulent times!
