The Energies of New and Full Moon in the Moon cycle
The new moon is a birth. As the waxing phase of the moon occurs, it grows and matures until it reaches its ripest expression on the full moon. In the fullness and exuberance of this moon phase, the energy is naturally aligned with outward expression like social gatherings, circle ceremonies, parties etc. As the waning phase happens, the moon, turns again into a thin crescent, finally dissolving completely into the dark of the moon, wherein, that birth now becomes a death. Thus each lunar cycle, we are reborn. It’s during the new moon that we are most aligned with contemplating our intentions, integrating our experiences, and rejuvenating ourselves so that we can start the cycle all over again. Each new moon is the beginning of a new lunar cycle. It is an aligned time to consciously clear away obstructions and write down new intentions for that lunar cycle, asking for divine assistance in realizing them. New moon is organically a very meditative, inward, introspective time and thus a good time to journal, meditate, dream, create art, connect with your inner life. Ceremonies that are about beginning again, releasing the old, and moving on, can most effectively be done around the new moon.
